Math 142

Chapter 6 Homework

Math 141 (Calculus I) covered Sections 6.1 (area) and 6.2 (volume by Disk/Washer Method).

Math 142 (Calculus II) covers Section 6.3 (volume by Shells Method).

For §6.3, you must remember §6.1 and ideas for § 6.2 are useful.

In case you need to review these concepts, I've provided below a suggested review of § 6.1 & 6.2.

The below posted Chapter 6 Review Formula Quiz (and solutions) is a great resource.

  • For 1-31, express the area as integral(s) but no need to evaluate the integral(s). The determining factor on whether to integrate w.r.t. x or y is the ease of setting up the resulting integral(s). Sometimes one way is easy and the other way is hard (pick the easy way). Sometimes both ways are easy (doesn't matter). Sometimes both ways are hard (doesn't matter).
