Curvilinear coordinates are a coordinate system for Euclidean space in which the coordinate lines may be curved. Here we will focus on the most commonly used curvilinear coordinates: polar coordinates in ${\mathbb{R}}^2$ and spherical and cylindrical coordinates in ${\mathbb{R}}^3\text{.}$
