preComplex Analysis.
  • Everyone should read, from our Dyer-Edmunds (our Metric Space book), Section 3.1: Complex Numbers.
  • Be sure you can do the preComplex Analysis Exercises: pCA 1-4. These problems, which are optional and need not be handed in, are meant to prevoide a starting point for lectures (as ususal in 703, there is a wide variety of compex background in this class). The needed idea will not be covered in class but can be found in the (short) Chapter 1 in the undergraduate textbook Complex Variables and Applications by James Brown and Ruel Churchill.
pCA 0 Sat 11/7 11:59pm (not optional) Read Section 3.1 (pages 167-173) from From Real to Complex Analysis by Dyer and Edmunds (our metric space book), as to learn how we view many concepts in Complex Analysis from a metric space viewpoint.
