Notes:

  • Each Mastery Quiz will be a short quiz with problems related to that day's lab material and very similar to those found in text. Each Mastery Quiz will be worth 3 points. With the lowest score on a Mastery Quiz dropped, there are a total of 33 points possible from Mastery Quizzes.
  • Each Hour Quiz will be distributed at the beginning of the lab period and collected at the end of the lab period.  You can use the textbook, your notes, the computer, Maple, or any other inanimate source to answer the questions. The questions will be related to the concepts and techniques addressed in previous labs.
  • Projects are longer collections of related questions that can be answered with the skills and knowledge learned in the labs and lectures for this course. A project report will be due at the beginning of the next lab period.  Guidelines for the preparation of a project report, and the grading rubric used for evaluating project reports, are available at http://www.math.sc.edu/~meade/142L-S05/labs/ReportDesc.pdf.
  • Tutors and Assistants can be accessed from the respective menus on the Maple 9.5 graphical user interface. The Tutors marked with [PreC] are found under the PreCalculus submenu; those marked with [C-SV] and [C-MV] can be found under the Calculus - Single Variable and Calculus - Multiple Variable submenus, respectively.
  • The maplets are most easily run with the Maplet Viewer (available only for Windows). On other platforms, save the file, load the file into a Maple session (just as you would any other Maple worksheet), and execute the entire worksheet. This will start the maplet.
  • Portable Document Format (PDF) files are viewable with Adobe Reader Download Adobe Reader .

  • If you have any questions, please send e-mail to meade@math.sc.edu
