The development of G3D has been supported in part through DOE grant DE-FG05-95ER25266 (Partnerships in Computational Science) which was administered through the Mathematical and Computer Sciences Department (MICS) and by the University of South Carolina in order to develop general purpose software tools for Computational Grand Challenge Problems.

Several undergraduate and graduate students at the University of South Carolina who have assisted in the code development over the last two years include Ben Cohen, Parag Paranjpe, Seth Wandersman, and Jim Blair. Many of our colleagues have contributed in a variety of ways, particulary by helpful comments and suggestions on user perferences and added functionality. We would like to extend special appreciation to Dick Ewing, Larry Ewing, Michael Pilant, and Scott Goodrich of Texas A&M University, Michael Celia of Princeton University, Lin Ferrand of CUNY, John Haselow, Larry Hamm, and Greg Flach of Westinghouse Savannah River Technology Center, and Ron Peierls of Brookhaven National Laboratory for many helpful comments and suggestions.

We also take this opportunity to mention that G3D was formulated incorporating in part many of our earlier experiences in developing GUI prototypes (`v3d', `c3d' for postprocessing, and `Pre' for preprocessing) which were funded by the University of South Carolina, SCREF, University of Wyoming, Texas A&M University, and the Department of Energy through its Partnership in Computational Science program. The main SGI-GL code development of the early prototypes was done by Patrick O'Leary, Derek Mitchum, and Alan Perry at the University of Wyoming, University of South Carolina, and Texas A&M University.
