Study Guide Homework Instructions for a particular section.
Read the section and watch the section's Screen Casts. Recall: a list of section's Screen Casts is on the section's Study guide. Hand in the following items (in the indicated order): (A), (B),(C)
  • (A) Screen Casts Your notes you took from watching the Screen Casts. Each Screen Cast should have at least one take away.
  • (B) Focus Questions There are Focus Questions on the section's Study Guide. For each Focus Question, first write out the statement of the Focus Question and then, under the statement of a particular Focus Question, write out your answer to that Focus Question.
  • (C) Exercises The last item on the Study Guide (under Activities for Learning) is a list of exercises to test your understanding of the material. Work each of the suggested exercises that are starred. Then check your answers with the answers in the back of the book. Mark you mistakes in a different color (and make some kind of note to yourself as to avoid making the same mistake on an exam). If you did not make any mistakes, indicate that you made a 100% (so that I know you checked your work).
When finished, make one legible PDF file of your work proper side up (i.e., not sideways nor upside down) and submit the one PDF file via Blackboard under the "Study Guide Homework (assignments)" link.

Your Study Guide notes should help you studying for exams so keep them in a handy place in your class notebook.

Suggestions on produce one legible PDF file of notes from your class notebook.
Suggestions on producing PDF files in case you do not have easy acess to a scanner but do have a smart cell phone.
Bottom line,to ensure you receive all the points coming to you, submit legible homework.
Not having a smart phone, I asked some of my graduate students for help. Below is what they told me.
  • Cam Scanner (widely used by my graduate students)
There is an application known as "Cam Scanner" (for free on Android & iPhones). Once you download it and sign in with your account, click on "Scan Doc". Afterwards, a drag down menu opens up and lists out various options such as Single page doc, Multiple page doc etc. Chose the appropriate option. If you select the on multiple page doc, then scan all the documents (pages) one by one and keep saving all of them side by side. Once done, a pop-up will appear asking for the document name. Once all this is done, go to "My Docs Option" in the application, and there are options to share PDF File.
  • Office Lens (also widely used by my graduate students)
Office Lens is by Microsoft and so you don't need to pay for anything since students have Office365 accounts through their student emails.
  • Adobe Scan can also be in place of CamScanner.
  • Tinyscanner is another app.
  • There are dozens of websites one gets on googling "jpeg to pdf converter"
