MATH 706
Numerical Linear Algebra  Spring 2007 Office: LeConte 313 D, and Sumwalt 206. Office Hours: TuTh 10:0011:00, M 2:303:30 and by appointment. 


Course Topics
Orthogonality, norms, orthogonal and affine projections, Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), matrix factorizations, finite precision arithmetic, stability, least squares, systems of equations, direct and iterative methods, preconditioning, eigenvalue/eigenvector problems, quadrature, and conjugate gradient methods. Includes theoretical development of concepts and constructive methods realized in terms of practical algorithm implementation in matlab.
