Prerequisite:  QUALIFICATION THROUGH PLACEMENT OR A GRADE OF C OR BETTER IN MATH 142

Textbook:   Calculus, Early Transcendentals, sixth edition,  by James Stewart,   published by Cengage Learning, 2008.

Catalog Description:   Geometry in the plane and space, Vectors, derivative and intergral in n-Space, Green's Theorem.

Subject Material:   We shall cover the following sections in the textbook: 12.1 -- 16.4.

Homework:  Homework will be assigned on the course homework page and should be completed by the next quiz.  Homework will not be collected; your homework will be evaluated by your performance on periodic quizzes.  You should make every effort to complete the homework assignments and seek help with problems you have not been able to solve.

Reading:  Reading the sections of the textbook corresponding to the assigned homework exercises is considered part of the homework assignment; you are responsible for material in the assigned reading whether or not it is discussed in the lecture.

Quizzes:  There will be ten (10) quizzes given during the Tlecture; see the course calendar for the specific dates.   Your cumulative quiz grade will be based on the best seven (7) of the ten (10) quizzes.  There will be no makeup quizzes.  No notes (or books) will be allowed during the quizzes.

Exams:  There will be three exams given during lectures after each chapter; see the course calendar for the specific dates.  There will be no makeup exams.   If you miss one exam, the portion will be replaced by your final exam.   You may bring one 8.5 by 11 inch handwritten sheet of notes with you to each exam. No book or more than one page of notes are allowed during the exam.

Final Exam:  The final examination will be held on the date and time scheduled in the Final Examination Schedule.  You may bring one 8.5 by 11 inch handwritten sheet of notes with you to the final examination.

Calculator policy:   Calculators are prohibited to use in three exams and the final exam. However, you may use them for your homework and quizzes (although not required).

Cell Phone Policy:   All cell phones should be turned off during classes.

Grading: The attendance is 30 points. Each quiz contributes 10 points. The total scores from 7 (best) quizzes is 70 points. Each exam contributes 100 points. The final exam contributes 200 points. The total score is 600 points. Your course grade will be based on the maximum of the following two weighted percentages.
