Math
Lab: The
Math Lab is a free tutoring service for
all 100level math courses. No appointment is necessary. (Opens Aug 30,
operates Monday Thursday: 11:00 AM 
4:00 PM at LeConte 101, and 6:00 PM 
8:00 PM at Bates and Towers dorm areas.)
Exams:
There will be three 1hour exams announced well in advance of their date (tentative dates
Sept. 21, Oct. 21, Nov. 18). Each
exam will be worth 100 points. There
will be no makeup exams.
Final exam: There will be a final exam worth 200 points on Wednesday,
December 8 at 2:00 PM.
All students must take the Final
Exam.
Quizzes: There will be a tenminute quiz almost every week. The dates of the
quizzes will not be announced in advance. Each quiz will be worth 10
points. There will be a total of 12 to 14 quizzes. Your best 10 scores will be
chosen to constitute a quiz grade of a possible 100 points. There will be no makeup quizzes. Any
missed quiz will be the one that you drop.
Homework: There will be homework problems assigned but not graded. Quizzes will
be based on homework problems.
Grading: You have a total of 600 possible points: 100 points for each of the
three 1hour exams,
100 points for the quiz, and 200 points for the Final Exam. You will be able to
drop the lowest
100 points. The lowest 100 points may be one half of the Final Exam. This
gives you a possibility of 500 points. Your final grade will be determined from these 500 points as follows:
