This is an interactive fiction game.
The game essentially boils down to putting a puzzle back together. The puzzle pieces are shards of information hidden throughout the game. Whereas most interactive fiction games are mutable and give you an inventory to let you carry things around, this game is much more immutable and doesn't have that capability, so you may want to play with a pen and paper, building up a mental 'inventory' as the game progresses.
Some of the game can be completed with only the links appearing on the webpages in the game, but at some point you'll have to blaze a trail to new locations on your own. This may require some research, but I hope I've kept the guessing to a minimum.
Since math is my main thing, the puzzle is highly mathematical. However, I have left any advanced mathematics out of the game and your main tools should be observation, logical inference/deduction, and basic arithmetic. The initiated may note the places I saw easy jokes about fields of characteristic p and contour integrals, but I left those out intentionally.
The goal of the game is a single word. I will keep a running tally here of those who have completed the game. You can have your name added to the list if you email me the word (southwij@math.sc.edu or more recently soutjt14@alumni.wfu.edu), as well as the information you found that led you to the word.
