August 11, 2020

Peter Binev (Math) together with Doug Blom and Mike Matthews (PI) from College of Engineering and Computing and Tom Vogt from the NanoCenter received a two-year $1,999,690 grant from Army Research Office for a project entitled "Order in Atom Columns – Imaging Beyond the Virtual Crystal Approximation”.

Wolfgang Dahmen gives a plenary talk at 9th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM 2019)

This video, previewed at the ICIAM 2019 Congress, highlights ongoing research activities among members of the Mathematics Department who have been affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Mathematics Institute (IMI) and the DASIV Center.

The ICIAM 2019 Congress was held in Valencia, Spain, July 15 - 19, 2019. This congress takes place every 4 years at a different location. With about 4000 participants, it is considered to be the most important event in applied and computational mathematics. It was therefore an excellent opportunity to bring the interdisciplinary mathematical research conducted at UofSC to the attention of large parts of the scientific community.

Wolfgang Dahmen

Dr. Wolfgang A. Dahmen was among the 28 mathematicians to be included in the class of 2019 SIAM Fellows. Dr. Dahmen received this honor for his contributions to numerical methods for partial differential equations, signal processing, and learning.

Dr. Wolfgang A. Dahmen is this year’s recipient of The Robert Piloty Prize and the Alwin Walther Medal. The Robert Piloty Prize is awarded for outstanding achievements and exceptional research and development in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering and information technology, and applied mathematics. This prize is awarded every two years.
